Calling all designers to create a logo/business card for 'Halcyon Digital', a company dealing in editing, visual effects, animation, etc...  

Introduction

Welcome, designers.

We are Halcyon Digital, a newly-opened post-production company headquartered in New Zealand, and we a seeking a corporate branding package with which to begin our advertising. First up in what will be a series of contests is the logo/business card design.

We are open to any and all creative interpretations, but here's a few selects of designs we like:

Something that is visually striking and memorable, without being overtly 'dark' or 'technical'.

Two designs will need to be submitted - one of the standalone logo, and one of the logo in use on a business card (2-sided) with sample text, layout, etc.  

Target audience

Our target market are both production companies and advertising agencies - staffed by 'creative' people themselves, they're not easily impressed. The people making the decisions in these companies are either young males (creatives or directors), around the 25 - 35 year-old bracket, or women (producers), around the 35 - 45 year-old bracket.

Essentially it needs to demonstrate creativity (to the directors/creatives) and competence (to the producers), without fading into the background with all the other post companies vying for work.

1 x logo PSD
1 x 2-sided business card PSD

We quite like black/grey with splashes of vibrant colour and light grey/white; or white/grey with darker elements running through it.

Should be usable (possibly in an altered form) in various media (letterhead, signage, etc.)
A website interface competition will be following this one.  

Not Wanted

Overly black or monochromatic designs.
Not yet convinced on the merit of a 3D logo, but happy to be proven wrong.
